Yes, Google Summer of Code (SoC) 2007 is back and I'm in once again! This means I'll be able to spend another summer working on free software and deliver some useful contributions by the end of it.
This time I sent just one proposal, choosing NetBSD as the mentoring organization. The project is entitled Automated testing framework and is mentored by Martin Husemann. This framework is something I've had in mind for a long time already; in fact, I also applied for this in SoC 2006 and attempted to develop this project as my undergraduate thesis.
For more details on what the project is about, check out these notes.
At last, take a look at the full list of accepted projects for NetBSD. It is rather short unfortunately, but they all look very promising. It is a pity ext3 support is not in them, but getting ZFS instead will be good too.

Whatever happended to your Boost.Process SoC. I dont see it in the review pages for Boost at the moment.
Are you still actively working on it?
Are you going to complete it for a Boost review?
Why didn't you just re-elect yourself for Boost.Process again for Soc?
Please do so and dont abandon Boost.Process. I think it is such a good library that you should submit it for review to get it included in Boost.
This is just excellent news! NetBSD is in real need of a regression test framework and I think you're just the guy to make it. I like the ideas on this you posted a while ago.
Good luck with the implementation!
anonymous: I ran out of time after past summer to work on Boost.Process. However, it is something I really want to finish. I spent part of past week cleaning up some problems and doing a bit of work on it, which you can see in the SVN tree. I would like to see it integrated into Boost after all the time I spent on it, but it still requires a non-trivial amount of work to be ready.
I didn't consider reapplying for this project this year simply because I did not have this idea! Anyway, the automated testing framework for NetBSD is something else I really want to do and which I believe can greatly help the project; in fact, I presented a similar proposal past year.
Grr... so much things to do and so few time!
Peter: Thanks! :-) I hope to fulfill all the expectations.
Hi,
do you want to offer someone else the chance to taking over your Boost.Process in the Boost mailing list. I am sure someone would be interested in developing it/maintaining it. I'd like to see it includeed in Boost 1.35
anonymous: I don't want to give up on Boost.Process; not yet. I have spent a lot of time in that project and I have interest in finishing it, learning all it takes to do so (which is the "hard" part) and going through the full review process. But I simply don't have the time to do it now...
However, people is very welcome to provide patches to the current code and ideas on how to attack the missing things (see the to-do list in the documentation, for example). That'd speed up development a bit, maybe :-)
In fact, I recently received a mail with some patches and I'll try to look at it this weekend.
